Two Weeks Combined...

Our vistors Kelly and Martin left and met up with Pops and GG on Route 66, Kurtis was sad he could not travel with them, so we made a Route 66 Pancake in honor of them!!

We went to the aquarium again and saw some new things: A South African Porcupine, and the underwater exhibit of the Sea Lions.Kurtis made a lovely dinosaur island and we studied the planets. Here are some fun photos: (Kurtis took the one of me...yikes!) Kelly and Martin came back and ended their trip on Route 66 at the Santa Monica Pier. Martin and Kurtis did some fun experiments with rocks, and a sand volcano. We had pizza and watermelon at the Marina, then got some wonderful Yogurtland yogurt it was a wonderful way to end the week we had.

Our Week....

Wow we had a pretty intense week. It started off non-eventful....we painted, worked on our letters & numbers, and cleaned the house. Kurtis also got a package the beginning of the week from Pops, GG, and Nanny. He loved everything in it, including the awesome army hat that used to be Pops.THEN...Kurtis had a asthma attack, first one that I thought I was going to be taking him to the hospital, luckily we got it under control. The asthma attack was followed by hives, and then he woke up with welts. Thank you Anne for going to get benadryl for little sad Kurtis, I am sure it would have been a sleepless night for us if we did not have that. (WARNING: Kind of graphic photo)We ended the week once Kurtis had gone to the doctor (which I never want to speak of, Kurtis and Benadryl are not a good mix...but we got through it!) and was feeling much better going to the Aquarium. It was a lot of fun!! We saw the Nemo Exhibit, we had a lesson on sharks from a DIVER in the water (yes it was really cool!), we ate funnel cake (I have been craving one since I got pregnant so it was WONDERFUL even though it was not the best.), and we fed the Lorakeets. Oh and Kurtis got a tattoo when we left (he requested that photo up...and yes that very large round thing next to his arm is my belly. as he says i am fat!)

DinOSaurs!!!

Kurtis has a new interest, its dinosaurs, he always wants to play with them, he wants to pretend to be one, and he makes up songs about them. It is pretty cute! On Monday we got a few books on them and have been learning interesting facts about dinosaurs, if only I could pronounce them the correct way. Oh well...this week the dinosaurs invaded the train table and sand table, the stories he came up with were too funny.
Not related to the dinosaurs but sweet story. This week we were driving and there was an older lady that kept coming over into my lane so I might have made a frustrating sound and started complaining. The sweet boy that he is says "Mom we are supposed to love everyone, don't be angry at them" so I said "I am not angry at them I am frustrated that this lady might hurt us" and he kindly just reminded me that Heavenly Father says to love everyone.

Hair Cut and Family!!

Kurtis got a new hair cut, I know it makes him look younger but for the summer trust me it is better for his little head. Otherwise the kid is a sweating machine!!My Aunt Kelly and Uncle Martin came to stay with me while they prepared for their trip on Route 66!! The cousins in the area all came for a Saturday lunch, the kids got to play, we had great conversation, and delicious (lisa still need the recipe for those cookies) food!! It was really nice to see them all and we miss the rest of you!
I guess every kid is obsessed with Kiel's sunglasses...they are pretty fun!

Firsts...

This past week Kurtis had two firsts, it was his first time tasting a fruit by the foot...so I took a photo to document for Derick. Also, it was a our first time this year going to the aquarium in Long Beach! He touched the sharks, the sea urchins, and everything he possibly could this time. Usually he just asks Derick or I to touch them for him, but this time he was getting in there and experiencing the whole thing for himself!! It was great!

Natural History/Experiment

We went to the Natural History Museum with our friends the Atkinson's and had a lot of fun. Anyone in the area should really go, it is pretty amazing. We saw dinosaur bones, and the kids can be archeologist, as well as a ton of bugs and live reptiles. Those were Kurtis' highlights, I enjoyed the butterfly pavilion. Here are some great photos we took.We also did an interesting experiment with Playdough called "Can Playdough Float?". We put a ball of playdough into a bowl of water and it sank. Then we put a thing of playdough in the shape of a boat (flatten the ball, and make sure it has sides and a flat bottom) and it did FLOAT!!

Here are some of the things we saw at the circus, I did not get a photo of Kurtis' favorite thing which was the people shooting from the cannons!!!!After the circus we went home for Kurtis to have quiet reading time, but I think the circus wore him out!!
Thank you Serene and Colette for a very fun day!!

Aunt Jackie Time...

Aunt Jackie came to visit us from Washington State, we enjoyed time with her and appreciated all of her help!! Jake thanks for letting us borrow her!!

We met an interesting clown at Wendy's who made us a balloon sword and flower?!!

Kurtis started playing with the baby items, I think he is a bit too big!

Aunt Jackie helped Kurtis make a Herbie car, and a Herbie Submarine, yes he LOVES Herbie the Love Bug!!!

Here is an update on our plants, they are growing a lot now if they would just sprout tomatoes or sunflowers we would be in business!
