Our Weekend!!!

This weekend we hit this wonderful moving sale and happened upon a basketball hoop, a large purple "cool" car (which I personally think is a barbie car, but Kurtis just thinks it is this really cool convertible), and a spiderman scooter. Kurtis took to his new ride like a fish to water. Needless to say, he was very happy to find such pre-owned treats.

Happy Birthday, thank you for all that you do for our family. Because of you our lives are full of laughter, happy tears, and a lot of fun! We love you very much Derick!!!

Autobots, Roll out..And Poop In The Toilet!

The end is near for the painful road of potty training. We had our highs and our lows, our ups and downs. But the main tool in helping Kurtis to go potty in the bathroom was the promise of Transformer toys. We bought a few and put them on the toilet, telling Kurtis that for every week he was accident free, he could pick one and open it. Whatever works, right? Another thing that helped Kurtis to sit on the toilet was car magazines- Not kids books about cars, not Disney Cars booklets- Car and Driver Magazine! He would only sit and look at those.

The Semi Annual Hair Cut
This just in- Kurtis finally let us cut his hair! He usually goes all Rain Man on us when we try, but Amy was able to chop some mop off before he went crazy. Unfortunately, he spazzed before she was able to finish so he looks a little lopsided. We are planning a second sneak attack tonight! I normally like Kurtis' hair long, and have been a proponent of letting it grow- but the kid was just too darn hot.

It's All Hebrew To Me...

So in our best attempt at dumpster diving, Amy spotted a set of puzzle mats in an alley way on the way home from work. Seeing that they looked like they were in very good condition, she looted the goods and we were on our way... Only to find that they had Hebrew letters all over them. Now for some reason Kurtis only listens to Matisyahu, wears his cereal bowl on the back of his head, and walks around Pico and Robertson in a black suit. Strange Huh? Mazel tov! Ya ya ya, Hey!

Satuday was a special day, it was Richard's birthday. So Kurtis and I went with Serene to Richard's studio for the Birthday Celebration. Michael, Tom and Chad all met us there and it was lots of fun. Kurtis was so scared at first he instantly latched himself onto Tom, then Michael got him some cake and he warmed up. He was still a little shy for photos though.

This first picture is of Kurtis (I think at age 9-10 months) in the same studio with Richard.

Fourth of July Weekend

For the Holiday Weekend we decided to enjoy some beach fun. We started off Friday morning at El Madeodor Beach. We love this beach (thanks Megan and Tyson), one time Derick was swimming and…he looked up and there was an otter swimming next to him, then he looked over and there were dolphins swimming in the distance. It was like a peaceful little moment for him. It is usually not really crowded, and the waves are always really good. We went with our friends the Heath’s and the McDowell’s. All of the children enjoyed the sand, all of the men enjoyed boogie boarding (the waves were really nice), and the women enjoyed some nice relaxing in the sun and chatting!

After the beach we went home to recoup so that we would be ready for the BBQ. Kurtis finally got to swim in a pool, he really misses swimming with his friends Josh and Sam at Nanny’s pool so it was nice for him to enjoy the pool with his daddy, cousins, and the rest of the family. I forgot my camera outside while they were swimming, so I only got photos of us all sitting around... Saturday we had a great time as a family at the movie Wall-E. Kurtis loved it!! We took some fun photos at the movie theater.

Boring Weekend

Last weekend, we were pretty boring. We will blame it on us all being pretty tired. Friday we had some friends over for dinner which was lots of fun and Kurtis was happy to show off for all of them. Saturday we woke up and went to the McDowell’s house to water their garden and take care of their pets, and house while they are out of town. They were also kind enough to allow us to do some laundry while we were over there…THANKS GUYS! We found a lot of vegetables that needed to be picked as they were getting pretty ripe!! There was three huge zucchini’s (one the size of a small child), some squash, and some tomatoes.

Anne has the most amazing garden, and the vegetables tasted wonderful. Kurtis ate several tomatoes like they were apples, and we fixed a lovely squash and potatoes side dish that was delicious.

After the morning chores we went to Derick’s softball game and played at the park there to get out some energy. Then after Kurtis’ (and mommy’s) nap he and daddy decided to dance in his room to his cars music. They had a lot of fun and I was able to get a video of the little man showing us his tricks.

Quote of the Week

So my little monkey looks like such a little angel here. Yesterday he took a fall at the mall play center off of a climbable cupcake. Derick got me concerned saying that he immediately started to cry and was disoriented and pale (poor kid has hit his head enough times). Well, later that night I asked him: “Kurtis does your head still hurt or are you all better”, and he said:
“I fell down and hit my head, and there was this girl... but now I am all better”. So then of course I asked him more questions like, “Did it hurt when you fell off of the cupcake or were you just embarrassed?” He simply replied, “Well Momma I fell and hit my ear and it hurt… but there was this girl so I started to cry (I think he then tried to say embarrassed…could not translate that part) then daddy held me and I was ok, and now I AM ALL BETTER”.
We are in trouble with this boy, he is not afraid of girls; he is always flirting with them and trying to run around with the older ones especially!!
