DaY #4

One thing that my son has picked up from his dad is using nicknames for his close friends. Zoie is Zoe and Vinny is Vin; it is so fun to hear as they are playing.

Daddy- Today we went to the library and picked out lots of fun new books (yes we took back the ones you keep reminding us to return), we also went and checked out the pet shop while we were there, Sarah LOVED the birds. She kept squealing at them. Guess what we saw when we came out of the pet shop....a miniature (Go Cart) Grave Digger. It was awesome, may be I can have one of those for my birthday.I took this photo of Sarah she has started holding mommas hands and trying to walk a little bit. Her walker came today and she loved getting in it outside. She is much happier now that she can move around and follow me more.Hope your day was good, we love you!

Day #3.....whew!

Whew...they are both finally in bed....Day #3 is almost done. Today was a long day because poor Sarah was throwing up and had an upset tummy all day. I hope this is connected to her getting some teeth and not that she is sick (because I don't want Kurtis or I to get it...) but we will watch her tomorrow.
Daddy- Today I was so excited because Z. and P. came to play outside with me while Sarah was napping. We had a great time riding bikes, scooters and running around. Kurtis did not want to take a regular photo....and then...Miss you! Can't wait to see the photos of you riding in the army trucks!!! Love you!

Before Derick left Kurtis was borrowing his ipod to listen to music while he rode his bike inside the complex courtyard. It was too funny, he is getting so big!

Day #2

Day #2 for Daddy-
Today I created my own garbage mountain (Bernstein Bears reference) on my train track!! Momma and I had a lot of fun while Sarah was sleeping. Momma also tried her best to draw a combine harvester, I colored it red.
Then we all went to church where I learned about kindness and we popped balloon animals. (Yes the entire side of Kurtis' sleeve is wet and yes it is from him putting it in his mouth...lovely!)For dinner mom made chicken fried rice, and I ate a lot.

We miss you and love you! AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! We appreciate all you do for us and hope even though you are away from us you know how much we wish you a happy birthday and love you. (Kurtis chose the photo!)

Day #1

We will see IF I keep it up, but here is our day #1 for daddy!! We started our chain, it is nothing like the one we did last year during basic training so we are thankful about that!!!Daddy- We all had a very productive day, after Sarah went down for her first nap Mommy and I played games and did puzzles. Then we sat down for lunch...where....uh oh....Sarah had a diaper accident (you can imagine)!!! I was very helpful and got Mommy a bag while she got Sarah in the bath.
Mommy said after that she needed to get out of the house so we went to Cheeky Monkey- to look NOT buy- and then we went to the puppy store which made us all happy!!
After Sarah's second nap we went to the ward pioneer party which was fun!We miss you very much daddy, only 16 days to go.
Memorable quote of the day:
Kurtis- "Whats that shooting noise coming from Sarah?"
Mommy- "Well, that is her bum I think her tummy is upset"

Kurtis reading to Sarah- It was too cute!GG and Pops, I think this may have topped our experience with Kurtis a few years ago, wait, that was in public...nevermind, that will still be one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

Last Few Weeks Till....He's Gone.

We have been kind of spoiled the past few weeks because Derick has been working at a summer camp, so he does not go in until the afternoon. We have been so lucky to spend extra time with him before he leaves for his National Guard yearly training. I know he will not be gone for as long as he was last summer but it has been very nice to get a ton of things done and really enjoy some family time before he does have to leave us.

We went to one of Kurtis' friends for a birthday party where he....swam a ton

got stung by a bee for the first time (obviously not a photo of that, but it happened in the pool shortly after this photo)

held a bearded dragon (and hung out with a huge tortoise- but I did not get any photos of that)

Sarah and I just hung out around the pool in the shade...she was really tired since it was during her nap time.

After all of that excitement and fun Kurtis got a hair cut!!!
We got a bird feeder to watch birds outside on our patio (mom and dad now you can see it)

Update!!!

Sarah has left behind her army crawl and has started to really crawl. She is pretty fast, and before we knew it, she was lifting herself up and standing. This girl just will not slow down!! She took her first swim, which we knew she would love. She loves the water, just not the ocean.
Kurtis finished his swim lessons and loved every minute of it. Now that those are done, he is enjoying playing with daddy in the mornings and cooking with mommy in the evening. He has helped me make funnel cake, double chocolate chip cookies, and the good 'ole fashion American chocolate chip cookies.
We are all getting ready for Derick to be gone for a bit, we will miss very much and will try to keep the blog updated as a journal for him again!!

Little Missy

Since there was a posting devoted to Kurtis, I thought I should do one posting just for Sarah. Sarah has started to lift herself up into the standing position, she can go from laying down to sitting up on her own, she has six teeth (and is getting number 7), and she is loving real food. In fact, she loves it so much some times she eats until she throws up. I will get her height, weight in July at her appointment. But her big first this past week was going to the beach, she was not too happy when daddy dipped her feet in the water....so sad!!Nanny she wore the adorable watermelon outfit that you gave her, and Aunt Elaine let us borrow this adorable watermelon hat!! She was too cute! These are photos that my friend Anne took with her new amazing camera...Sarah's eyes looked so blue I had to share both of them!Lastly, Derick was bathing Sarah the other night (I must say he usually baths the children, THANK YOU!!) and I walked in to see how they were doing to find them both singing. I was able to quickly run and get the flip video (thank you GG and POPS!) and video it to share! I wish she was louder but I could not risk getting closer I might have distracted her more. She also has this new laugh/smile thing she does so here are two videos for you to get to know Sar a little better.

Final Week of....

Kurtis finished his Pre-K class this week and loved every minute of it. They had the spring dance performance, all of the children danced from different parts of the world. They all did a terrific job!The video is a bit shaky because Sarah is crying behind me and I am trying to take care of her and tape Kurtis' performance, but he did a great job. He would not do the pony...we are not sure why, that one he only did at home. I had to edit the video into two so that it would upload to the blog, but you get the idea of the dance.

It was also graduation, but I only was able to get video of that because my camera was only taking blurry photos. Oh well...it was only his Pre-K graduation, but all the boys were in shirts and ties they were handsome and the girls were wearing little princess dresses they were adorable as well.

Sorry for the absence!!

With the end of school and other family occurrences it has been a busy time in our household! But I have been taking photos to document the fun things we have been doing.

We made Anne's caramel popcorn, it is SOOO GOOD!! We ate almost all of it for mid-morning snack....We have been playing with trains a lot, Sarah seems to love to crawl over to Kurtis as he plays over there!! Kurtis does a great job of getting her some of her toys so that she won't play with his.
Then we met up with my brother in Downtown Disney where we visited the Lego Store and had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Kurtis loved the ambiance of the restaurant! It was so nice to finally meet Kyler and Ella has really gotten so big, we were really glad we got to see you, we love you all...Ryan and Jordan too!I will update more next week with Kurtis' Spring Dance Performance and his graduation from Pre-K and I will have more photos to update you on Sarah too.
