July 4th Part 2- FIREWORKS

We went to fireworks at the marina and loved camping out waiting for them to happen.  We all played games, ate dinner, and people watched.  Kurtis has been asking to see fireworks at the beach for about 3 years now, so finally we did as we said we would and it was so much fun.  We also went and saw the fireworks at a local college here, they put on a terrific show and it was inside an arena which was full of families and lots of vendors for us to walk around and see.  I think as a mom I enjoyed the local college better, but it was fun seeing fireworks on July 4th no matter what!! 

4th of July...Part 1

For 4th of July we started off at the Beach...which the children love, and so did Derick!!!  They built sand castles, swam in the ocean, played football, and ate a delicious lunch under our new beach tent!!!

Last Week of School

For Kurtis' last week of school he had his Kindergarten Culmination.  We had the theme "Oh The Places You Will Go..." and after the ceremony we had a family/friends picnic filled with Dr. Seuss trees, great entertainment, and yummy food!!  The kids had a wonderful time, and loved having the attention on them for the day!  Below are some great photos of the memories we made.  I also took some videos but they are too large to upload right now, but once I can figure it out I will upload them for you all to watch.  They had some pretty funny songs/dances that they did!!  We all loved it, and are proud of Kurtis and his accomplishment.  He received a certificate for 97% attendance, as well as high achievement in Science!

June....

The beginning of June has been wonderful!

It has been warm enough for us to play outside with water guns.

Derick built me a raised garden.  I will post photos of the growing garden later on...I will give you a hint of whats to come we already have four tomatoes!!

And last, Derick had a three day drill weekend that we got to pick him up from.  While waiting for him to arrive we checked out some aircraft on base.  The children were so very very happy to see him after three days.  I know they can not wait till summer when he will be gone for longer...but we will make it through!

Hiking!!!

Before we had children Derick and I used to go hiking with our dear friends the McDowells all the time...reminiscent of those wonderful times we decided to go hiking with the McDowells and all the children!!  We had a great time, and the kids were way faster then I thought they would be.  It ended up being a great workout, fun company, and an all round fantastic day!

After the hike we went to the beach while we waited for the restaurant to open for lunch.  Sarah got so wet that we striped her down to her underwear and let her play on the beach.  Derick was a bit embarrassed but I thought kids should be kids!

Car Show and Kurtis' Performance

We went to the annual culver city car show, the children and I always really love the car show.  I love to see all the interesting upgrades and remodels, Kurtis loves the different paint jobs, and Sarah enjoyed trying to find a pink car this year.  She was successful and found two!!  The camera died so I only got so many pictures, but they were good ones none the less!!

A week or so ago Kurtis had a special performance for Cinco De Mayo, I got a great picture when he walked into the auditorium but then it was so full that I could only video from one position and couldn't get the best shot of him.  You see him a few times though, enjoy!
