Soccer...Service...and Sunday Dress Up!!!

Kurtis is playing soccer again this year, but this year he is playing with his school friends and he is loving it!!!  It is a great way to get exercise and spend time with good friends.

Kurtis even got to do the coin toss at the beginning of the game one week.  Fun Fun!!

For a service project our church helped Beethoven Elementary School with a Mormon Helping Hands Beautification Day.  Our family helped a dear friend that works there with her classroom.  We sanded bookcases and then painted them in fun colors.  It was a great turn out, and a wonderful thing to do as a family with other friends from church.

Here is a video if you would like to check out everything that was done!!

Here are just some other photos of my cute kids dressed up for church.

San Diego OR Bust!!!

Derick and I decided to go away to San Diego for our 9 year anniversary (yes 9 years....and it has been wonderful every moment of those 9 years!!  Love you sweetie!)...my parents generously offered to come and watch the children for us so we jumped at the chance!  There are so many things I love about San Diego, some of the highlights, the hills, flowers, blue skies, and the temple.

Some military shots for Kurtis we took...the HUM-V had a sign on it that said STUDENT DRIVER.  I found that so funny I had to take a photo!

We enjoyed the time away from the children but missed them as well.  At least we knew they were very well taken care of.

Thanks again Pops and GG!!!  We love you!
Kurtis was so excited....ok Derick and Kurtis were so excited to find this Darth Vader mask at a rummage sale for 50 cents!!  They are all too funny!

Blow Out, Bird House, and Easter Bunny!

So we have been testing different ways to do Sarah's hair.  I have found the best thing to do is to blow it out and curl it under.  She looks so sweet and cute...and loves to pose for photos!!

Kurtis went to the Home Depot child activity where he made a bird house.  We still need to get bird seed but he was pretty proud of his creation!!

Then we woke up to the Easter Bunny delivering some goodies to our good little children.  They enjoyed waking up and searching for easter eggs.

Sunday we all woke up, and celebrated Easter  by going to church where we learned about our Savior.  The children came home peaceful and happy after learning more about the resurrection.  Kurtis sang a wonderful song with other primary children, and it was just a perfect Easter Sunday.  We are all blessed to be able to have the gospel in our lives and I love to hear my children talk about what they have learned each week at church.  We took some fun photos as a family...it was great!

We ended the day with a great time at Derick's sisters house with a huge Easter egg hunt, and wonderful food!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Dr. Seuss Week at School

For Kurtis' spirit week at school the kids participated in each days events ending with a reading by The Lorax which Kurtis really loved.  Here are the pictures for proof.

The first day was SOCK day-

The second day was HAT day and I missed taking a photo.

The third day was BACKWARD day-

The fourth day was the reading of Dr. Seuss Lorax, and I didn't get any photos; however it was a lot of fun to participate and support the school!!!

Sarah wore a bun with a pen in her hair all day long, and then during the weekend we painted her finger and toe nails.  Very girlie!!!  It was fun!

LACMA...

Our friends performed at LACMA one day so we decided to head there and check out an exhibit that we have been dying to see as well has hang out at their performance.  So we went and checked out the exhibit Metropolis II, which is basically a city that has miniature cars that speed through it approximately 240 scale miles per hour.  The cars are not electric or motorized in anyway, they go up a conveyor belt and then use gravity to travel around the track.  It is amazing, and Kurtis and I LOVED it!!!  After seeing that we had some time to kill we walked around the grounds and saw lots of different statues and artwork.  Then we took our seats to see our friends Rhythm Child perform.  The kids had a great time drumming and singing...it was a fun time!!

Well...one afternoon I got a call from my sister....

She was flying through LA to go to Hawaii and had time for us to visit a bit.  So I of course had to go and get Kurtis out of school to make sure he got to see her too!  We went and grabbed food at McDonalds and then back to the airport we went!

It was a lot of fun, the children were both sad that she could not stay for longer, but enjoyed seeing her while she was here!!
